Gathering: 3-26-17

We finally gathered.

And, it was odd and wonderful.

I've mentioned that one of our community recently invited a stranger into her home. (I'll call her Tess.)

As it turns out, Tess was the only person to show up today, mostly because we did a poor job getting word out that we were open for business.

In MLI, Reggie McNeal often talked about sending people on mission and then debriefing the experience.

Today, we had an amazing debriefing experience with Tess. We reviewed some of our core beliefs:

-We are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do.

-Jesus will judge us on actually, among other things, inviting strangers into our home.

-We are commanded to love our neighbor as ourself.

-Mercy will always demand sacrifice and be painful.

Etc..

Evie discovered that the New Testament word translated hospitality literally means love of strangers.

We had a wonderful morning celebrating Tess and her act of righteousness.

Evie led bread and cup time.

The meal was amazing.

Today's gathering was unique and special.
